Membership in the Evangelical church is guuided by BYE-LAW 62 MEMBERSHIP, RESIGNATION, WITHDRAWAL AND INCEPTION OF A NEW MEMBER
62.1 Membership, resignation and inception of all Evangelical Church members will first be received and/or conducted at the local church level, to which the member is affiliated or wishes to affiliate.
62.2 A new member from another denomination joining the Evangelical Church shall, before his/her acceptance, normally produce a remover or a letter of transfer (or any such relevant document as may give sufficient base for his/her acceptance); such a member’s case will be scrutinized by the Local Church Board of elders before acceptance.
62.3 A member of the Evangelical Church who is being transferred (perhaps by his employer) shall produce a letter of transfer from the previous local church.
62.4 In the case of a pastor from another denomination intending to join the Evangelical Church, the application will be processed by the National Board of elders on the basis of his beliefs. His case shall be handled according to Bye- Laws 15 and 16 of this Constitution.
62.5 Membership will be open to anyone:
62.5.1 Who has accepted Jesus Christ as his/her personal Saviour.
62.5.2 Who promises to support all the activities of this denomination in all spiritual and material aspects and has reaffirmed his membership on an annual basis.
62.5.3 Who agrees with the Constitution and the Statement of Faith of the Evangelical Church.
62.5.4 Who is baptised in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
62.6 A new member can be accepted into the local church in one or all of the following ways:
62.6.1 Born again believers stand up and say “Amen”.
62.6.2 Born again believers will lift up their right hands.
62.6.3 All born again believers shake the hand of the new member.
62.7 Withdrawal of a member shall be by written or verbal notice to the Local Church Board to that effect.
